# Markets and the switcher

## The markets page

The markets page lists every book on the venue, sorted by 24h volume, with price, 24h change, volume and maximum leverage per market. Filter by venue type with the pills at the top. The list is fetched live and refreshed continuously — nothing is hardcoded, so newly listed markets appear on their own.

Market identity is always explicit: perpetuals render with a dash (BTC-USDC), spot pairs with a slash (ETH/USDC). The separator tells you the venue without needing a label.

## The switcher

Inside the terminal, click the market name in the top rail to open the switcher.

* **Search** — type any symbol fragment; results filter across all markets instantly.
* **Featured** — three live columns: Hot (top by volume), New (most recently listed), and your Favourites.
* **Tabs** — All, Perps, Spot, RWA and Favourites. The RWA tab groups stocks, indices, commodities, FX and pre-IPO markets.
* **Favourites** — tap the star on any row. Favourites persist in your browser.
* **Recents** — the markets you opened last, one tap away.

Press Escape or click outside to close.

## Leverage tiers

Maximum leverage is set per market by the venue and shown as a chip on every row — 50x on BTC and ETH, lower tiers on stocks and long-tail markets. The ticket's leverage slider is capped to the real per-market maximum, read live from the venue's margin parameters.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.nocktrade.xyz/the-terminal/markets.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
